Emil Mendoza (he/they)
Costume Designer
About Me!
I AM . . .
a proud trans Latinx artist from Phoenix, Arizona! I graduated May 2021 from Arizona State University with my BA in Theatre (Design & Production) with a focus in costuming. I designed ASU's production of Hedda Gabler. In addition, I was hired as a student worker and did stitching in the School of Film, Dance, & Theatre costume shop for semester assignments. Prior to Arizona State University admittance, I graduated from Scottsdale Community College with an Associate of Arts where I was a wardrobe head and costume designer in the theatre program. Since graduating I've worked diligently to improve my illustration and rendering through personal projects.

My long-term mission . . .
is to build my understanding of character design and expansion through the principles of "showing not telling", and to "learn the rules in order to break them". In doing so, I hope to be a worldbuilder and storyteller like so many of my fellow queer and BIPOC artists who have come before me.

My interests . . .
are reading queer space operas, Dungeons & Dragons podcasts, and keeping up with kpop boyband Seventeen!
